In some ways being in Afghanistan has its similarities to being back home. Then in others its totally different.
LIVING
"We live in hardened buildings, with four people to one large room, sectioned off with ply wood. My room, on the first day. I was surprised my feet and head didn't hit the walls, but it sure beats a tent or sleeping under a vehicle."
WORK
"This patient had a gun shot wound that skimmed his scalp, fracturing his skull. He is doing just fine now. This kind of thing is not uncommon, unfortunately."
PLAY
"The FOB has a softball league, so we end up playing twice a week. You would think it would be a good way to get out some energy, and it is. We have a lot of fun, and laugh a lot. So far we have played a perfect season. We got close to winning a game once, but lost 45-46."

I enjoy the photos. A softball game that went 45-46? How LONG did that take?! Sounds unendingly fun :).
Be safe! Take care!
