Memorial Day

Memorial Day 2008 we were in Washington DC and were able to go see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It was a touching experience for Kyle, and was neat to see. The video is of a sentinel being inspected who is about to go onto the plaza for a 30 minute tour. The guards do 12 of these tours during their 27 hour shifts. Five hours are spent cleaning their uniforms, four hours more spent on their shoes alone. It was great to walk among the rows and get a small taste of all that's been done for our country and freedom and families.

That's was a really neat experience! I can't believe they spend so much time cleaning their shoes, I had no idea.
